Human in the loop
A design in which an AI system prepares an action, but a person approves it before it happens.
In practice
The AI does the preparation — drafting the email, reading back the order, proposing the meeting time — and a person gives the final yes. Nothing reaches a customer, a colleague or your books until then.
Why it matters
Speed without control is a liability. An email sent in the wrong tone, an order with the wrong quantity or a meeting booked at the wrong time costs more than the minutes saved. Human-in-the-loop keeps the speed of automation and the judgement of a person.
The trick is to put the approval where it matters — on actions that leave the conversation — and not on every question. Asking for sales figures needs no approval; sending a payment reminder to a client does.
Where emily fits
emily reads freely but acts only on a yes: emails to others are summarised and sent after you confirm, meetings are confirmed before they change, and orders on Cegid PHC are read back and land as unsigned drafts. See email with approval, voice orders and ERP, voice and human approval.
